Kakada’s 90th-Minute Rocket Seals Cambodia Dramatic Win

Hong Kong, China — Cambodia left it late, but a stunning stoppage-time strike from Kakada Sin secured a 1-0 victory over Myanmar at the Kai Tak Stadium on Sunday, blowing Group B wide open and putting the team on the brink of the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 Division 2 final.

Myanmar, who opened their campaign with a 2-0 win over Timor-Leste, thought they had taken the lead as early as the 3rd minute when Hein Htet Aung tapped in from close range. But the goal was correctly disallowed for offside, and that reprieve proved crucial.

Cambodia grew into the game and carved out the better chances of a tense first half. Sieng Chanthea twice went close — first in the 7th minute after a fine cross from Andres Nieto, and again in the 63rd minute when his close-range header drifted wide. Myanmar's star forwards Than Paing and Win Naing Tun threatened on the counter, but Cambodian goalkeeper Keo Soksela stood firm.

The match appeared destined for a draw until the 90th minute. Kakada collected the ball just outside the penalty area, took a touch to create space, and unleashed a ferocious long-range effort that flew into the far corner, leaving the Myanmar goalkeeper with no chance.

The result leaves both sides on three points, but Cambodia tops Group B on head-to-head record. Koji Gyotoku's men now need only a draw against Timor-Leste on September 30 to secure a place in the final. Myanmar, meanwhile, must regroup and hope other results fall their way.
