HONG KONG — Hong Kong, China booked their place in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 Division 2 final with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Brunei Darussalam at Kai Tak Stadium on Wednesday, topping Group A with a perfect record.

The co-hosts, who had already thrashed Laos 4-0 in their opener, needed only a point to guarantee progression but sealed all three with a dominant second-half display. A crowd of over 20,000 saw Hong Kong control 70% of possession in the first half, though they were frustrated by a stubborn Brunei rearguard and a string of missed chances.

The deadlock was broken just four minutes after the break when Brunei's Hanif Hamir was sent off for a studs-up challenge on Matt Orr following a VAR review. The numerical advantage told on the hour mark as Philip Chan glanced home an inviting Juninho cross to open the scoring.

Brunei goalkeeper Haimie Nyaring kept the scoreline respectable with a series of saves, and Hong Kong were twice denied by the crossbar through Orr headers. The striker finally got his reward in stoppage time, volleying an inch-perfect Everton Camargo cross into the top-left corner to seal the win.

The result means Hong Kong finish Group A with six points, ahead of Laos on three, while Brunei exit with zero points after two defeats. Coach Roberto Losada's side will now face Cambodia in the final on October 3rd at Kai Tak Stadium, after Cambodia topped Group B with four points following a 2-2 draw with Timor-Leste.
